MSSM shuts out visiting East Grand in boys, girls soccer

Three Aroostook County cross country teams traveled to Old Town Monday to compete with schools from across the northern half of the state in a rainy 5K race at the high school.
The Southern Aroostook and Hodgdon boys and girls soccer squads met on a slippery, muddy field Monday afternoon at Southern Aroostook Community School.
It was a smaller than usual crowd of kids that showed up for this year’s Elks Soccer Shoot in Houlton on Saturday, but it was enough to carry on the usual festivities.
The 19th Annual Alton McQuade Mars Hill Open was held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14 and 15, at the Mars Hill Country Club. This event was sponsored by the Mars Hill Rotary Club.
It is on to the state golf championships for the Fort Fairfield golf team following the Tigers’ impressive victory in the Aroostook County League Championship Thursday at the Mars Hill Country Club.
Camryn Ala scored her 50th career goal to lead Fort Fairfield past Katahdin 5-0 Friday afternoon.

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Noah Bernard has fond memories of his high school days as a golfer for the Fort Fairfield Tigers, especially with the success the team experienced.
On Saturday, the Ryan Wright Memorial Scramble was held. Porter Gervais and Josh McGuire finished first. Second place was Ben Lynds and Jim Quirk. Third place was Ben and Kody Tuttle. Even though there was some rain during play, everyone had a great time.
