Young golfer wins 38th Cary Classic

In a remarkable performance, 14-year-old Michael Bruce shot a 72 parring the Caribou Country Club Golf Course, and took the Cary Classic Tournament Championship on Saturday, July 9.

Oakfield crowns Little League champs

The Katahdin Valley Little League crowned a baseball champ June 25 as the Oakfield Falcons defeated the Patten Pirates, 13-3 for the championship title.

Fishing tourney on tap in Island Falls

In over 60 years of fishing in Maine, a bunch of other states and half a dozen countries, until last summer I’d never been in a fishing tournament. It was all the fun of a regular outing plus the excitement and challenge of perhaps boating a fish that might qualify for a prize. To top it all off, after the weigh-in all the competitors were treated to a huge fresh fish fry and a wide variety of delicious dishes.

From the Bunkers – Week of June 29, 2022

What a beautiful weekend we had for golf, summer really is here. On Saturday we held the Second Annual Mucho Moolah Two-Person Scramble in Memory of Dewey DeWitt. The field was full with 20 teams. The winning team was Jerry York and Bob Gray, runner up was Sean Dolomont and Richie Flowers. A great day was had by all.

CHS Athletic Hall of Fame welcomes inaugural class

Long-time athletic director Dwight Hunter and legendary basketball coach Gerald “Gerry” Duffy, along with his 1969 state champion basketball team were among the many highlighted individuals included in the induction class into the newly-established Caribou High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
