The 28th annual Rene Cloukey Charity Challenge Golf Tournament was held at the Limestone Country Club on July 23 and 24, 2016 at Long Lake Country Club. The tournament featured four nine-hole scrambles that included 220 golfers. Through the years, Cloukey has directed the tournament with much success and support by area businesses and participants.
The 28th annual Charity Challenge, held July 16 and 17, 2016, has been billed as one of the most successful in the history of the event. More than $3,800 dollars was raised for Special Olympics of Aroostook.

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Three hundred and two athletes, representing more than 30 schools and organizations, converged at the Gehrig Johnson Athletic Complex at Presque Isle Middle School May 13, 2016 for the 40th annual Aroostook County Special Olympics Spring Games.

The Knights of Columbus Maine State Council recently notified recipients of the 2016 Program for People with Disabilities Fund (also known as the Tootsie Roll Fund). Among the recipients was the Aroostook County Special Olympics Area Management Team.
