Ark Animal Sanctuary

First and foremost we would like to thank everyone who came to our grand opening. It was a wonderful day shared with wonderful people. The community support and generosity has left us speechless.

We are very proud of our new facility and even more proud that it is paid for in full. It has been a long journey with many challenges but the end result is absolutely amazing. The interior is bright and cheery, there is plenty of sunlight and fresh air. The focal point of the building is the wall displaying the portraits of the beloved 16.

Pet Talk

As you all know, the time is fast approaching for you to register and license your dogs and in order to do that they must be up to date on their rabies shots. To that end, the Houlton Humane Society will be hosting a Rabies Clinic Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Littleton Fire Department. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. you may bring your dogs, and cats.

Please make sure all dogs are on a leash and all cats are in carriers. The cost is $15 for a one-year rabies vaccination, $15 for a one-year distemper/parvo vaccination, $20 for a three-year rabies vaccination and $20 for a three-year distemper/lepto/one-year parvo vaccination. Please note that only cash or checks are accepted, we will not be able to process credit or debit cards.

‘Toby’ explores adopting a rescue pet into the family

What happens when a rescued dog is adopted by a new family? It can be hard — even as the family falls in love with the pup. The complexities of adoptions and transitions to a new environment are explored in the new children’s book by Hazel Mitchell.

And “Toby” is already popular with young readers.

Ark Animal Sanctuary

After two long years, The Ark Animal Sanctuary has opened its doors to the public once again. Our grand opening was Saturday, Nov. 4.

We are all very proud and excited to show off our new sanctuary. It has been a long and emotional journey for us and we want to thank you all for being a part of that journey.

Two years ago we opened up in that tiny little cabin, never dreaming of what would eventually happen. We had it all, only to lose it all to a fire a few months later.
