The past two weeks at The Ark have been very difficult and sad. From the time an animal passes through our front door we are committed to and became emotionally attached to, so it is not easy when things do not work out.
A friend of mine, Sue Maynard, recently sent the following article to me and had mentioned how much she enjoyed reading the articles every week in The Star Herald.
Frisket is a 4-1/2- to 5-month-old feral kitten that was abandoned with his sibling Frankie near a warehouse in Caribou.
The Ark is currently at capacity. Everyday we receive phone calls from people asking us to take their cats and many people get upset with us when we have to say “no,” we have no room.
We are now into the hunting season, whether it is with guns or bows, and whether hunting for birds, bear, rabbits, deer or any wild animal. You need to be safe and keep your four-legged companion safe.
Five feral cats from the Caribou area have been successfully relocated to a new home in Freeport.
We are getting excited and we have set the date — the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center has teamed up with the Central Aroostook Humane Society once again to put on the ninth annual Toast to the Animals, a beer and wine tasting and silent auction fundraiser.
We are happy to announce that adoptions are up at the Houlton Humane Society! We’ve made a lot of people very happy. Of course, we love that! What’s better than seeing a deserving animal going to a loving home?
Kash is a 1-1/2-year-old male Maine Coon mix. He is loving, clean and gets along with other cats.
