PAWS Pet of the Week – Rhaja

You can’t buy love but you can certainly rescue it. That is exactly what Rhaja is longing for. He was out on his own for a while and was timid and untrusting when he first came to PAWS. But he is adapting well. This good-natured fellow is also very gentle and submissive with all the […]

World Spay Day coming soon

World Spay Day is always the fourth Tuesday in February, which this year falls on Feb. 28. This is a good reminder of how important it is to have your pets altered before any surprise litters can make an appearance.

Helping cats across The County

A few weeks ago we were contacted by Paws Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Fort Kent asking if we could help them with two cats. One was leukemia positive and the other has feline AIDS. We agreed to take both so they wouldn’t have to live out their days in a cage.

Feathered friends are a treat

Winter is the perfect time to feed the wild birds and the squirrels.  My husband has done this for years. He puts up four or five feeders along with suet bars and hangs these in front of the windows. It is great entertainment for us to watch and our pup loves to watch as well.

Remembering DeeDee

I know many of you have followed DeeDee’s story. DeeDee had leukemia and was under vet care for the past few weeks. Early one recent morning, she lost her battle with leukemia.

Life with Odie, Part 2

When I wrote the first story of our dog Odie, I didn’t know that I would write a Part 2, but there were so many more stories that I decided more of this little dog’s story needed to be told.

PAWS Pet of the Week – Piper

Piper’s eyes will trap you from the minute you see her. Imagine her gazing lovingly into your eyes while you pet her. That is exactly what she does. Her sweet, angelic face is what you can look forward to seeing from the moment you wake up until you give her a kiss goodnight. PAWS says […]

Happy new year

New Year’s should be a reflective time for us all.  It’s a brand-new year and the start of hopefully a happy and healthy 2023.  It goes without saying that the past couple of years have been an extreme challenge as we have all dealt with the pandemic and the cost of everything going through the roof.  But I still believe that we are better off than many in this world.
