I’m very excited to tell you about a new program at the Houlton Humane Society animal shelter. We’ve talked about this for years and it’s about to become a reality. The staff is currently in training to do microchipping on all adopted animals.

The Houlton Humane Society is known for compassion and for going the extra mile when a critter is in distress so it was no surprise when we had a call from the State, asking us to assist with a case they were involved in. Several dogs had been taken in and were in pretty bad shape. They had already lost a couple of them they were so far gone, and we were asked to take a pup and see what we could do to help him.
The first thing … where and what is your dog or your other domestic animal doing? It seems more and more there are calls or complaints that someone’s animals are causing problems for the neighbors. They have had enough, but just don’t know how to go about fixing the problem without possibly causing bad feelings between the people.
