Family starts new tradition aiding homeless pets By Kathy McCarty Staff Writer Several members of a local family spent time during their Christmas vacation making a difference in the lives of homeless pets at the Central Aroostook Humane Society in Presque Isle.
Vacation for dairy farmers is a rare event. My days are consumed with helping my husband milk the cows, complete barn chores, and care for the health of 130 dairy animals which include milk cows, heifers, calves and bulls. The days are full to the brim juggling farm duties and managing my domestic duties. Luckily, my horse, Jazz, sprinkles spice into my daily routine.

What a great year we had at Houlton Humane Society! We had hundreds of adoptions, over 5,000 new Facebook likes, lots of new volunteers and thousands of dollars in supplies. We could not have done any of this without all of you!
