As we drove up Edgemont Drive on Feb. 17 at 1:15 p.m., my spirits were high. We were directed to the Northern Maine Community College Wellness Center and told there was no waiting line today. How great.
I watched her carefully position her late-model SUV into the parking space in front of me, her eyes shielded with brown tinted, cat-eye-shaped sunglasses. She removed the glasses and immediately put a white paper mask on.

Olof Nylander helped many Aroostook County residents identify uncommon animals and plants in the area. One was a snapping turtle, Latin name Chelydra Serpentina, which is a large freshwater reptile.
