Maine is the easternmost state in the U.S., and as such, it receives the sun’s first rays, every single day of the year. But exactly where in our state do those first rays land? Well, that changes, depending on the time of the year.
Diagnosed just before she turned 2 years old, Ruby Anderson, a 9-year-old girl from Yarmouth, does not remember living without Type 1 diabetes. She is determined to keep a positive attitude, however, and has worked to raise awareness at her school and is an advocate for Type 1 diabetes research.
This is in regard to the [“Walkabout: Aroostook”] article on driving. I agree it is sad how some people drive today, especially since cellphones came into existence.
We are celebrating 200 years of Maine. The “other Maine,” that is. It’s the place often written off but not easily forgotten once there. It is a place of tenacity, pluck and even a bit of wit.
After yet another white-knuckle trip to work, something has become clear: I need to go to driving school.

People always say “There’s nothing to do in The County.” I however don’t think that’s true.
There’s no real accounting for what one’s ancestors did well before one was born, but the taint can linger if it’s bad enough. Slave-ownership is a for instance. One can account for it by noting that it existed somewhere in the family lineage.
If you are like me, it’s easy to think these sweaty days will never end.
