HHS Show Choir claims second- place honors – It was a little sining, a little dancing, colorful costumes and some explosions that earned the Houlton High School Show Choir a second-place finish at the High School Show Choir a second-place finish at the Maine State Vocal Jazz Festival held last weekend in Houlton.
25 Years Ago – April 7, 1999
Ladner won a lifetime award — The Maine Arts Sponsors Association awarded their first Lifetime Achievement Award to Dan Ladner, teacher and director at the Caribou High School and the Performing Arts Center for his lifetime contributions to the performing arts in Maine.
Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 10 inches, with the lowest amounts in far Northeast Aroostook from Presque Isle northeast toward Madawaska. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

Library has a craft hour – Approximately 35 youngsters attended a craft hour in conjunction with the weekly story hour at the Madawaska Public Library recently.

Still going strong — Jos. W. Gary, one of Caribou’s highly esteemed citizens, and postmaster for about 40 years, is still enjoying all his facilities, although nearing the century mark as regards years, being 94 years old.

Hospital Will Break Ground Thursday – Groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Houlton Regional Hospital will be conducted this Thursday morning at 11:30, with actual construction of the facility expected to start immediately.
