They make a difference — Taking time to paint a swing set at an elementary school, or walking to each house in Caribou to collect food for the hungry, organizations in Caribou extended a helping hand to those in need for ‘Make a Difference Day.’

Volunteers commended – Two of High View Manor’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program volunteers were commended recently for their fund-raising efforts in the community. Henry Myers and Juliette Guerrette raised more than $1,000 in support of RSVP projects in the County.

Crafts Hobby Becomes Much More For MacIntosh ‘Apple Core’ — The Apple’s Core, is a McIntosh family group, centralized in Houlton, who are interested in a variety of crafts. After many years of creating gifts for friends and family, Ada V. McIntosh and her family have now begun to create not solely as a hobby but as a beginning on the Apple Core Craft Line.
A warm front will lift across the region this afternoon/evening with cloudy skies.
We want to remind everyone that if you are looking to spend a few hours enjoying the best of what the northern Maine crafters produce, then be sure to stop by the Caribou Arts and Crafts Fair this coming weekend.
Last weekend the Mapleton Daze Committee held a very successful Fall Craft and Vendor Fair at the Mapleton Elementary School.
The City of Presque Isle was founded in 1828 and was known as Fairbanks Mills. Despite being a growing village, the community was not proactive about fighting fires, even though most buildings at the time were constructed of wood, until some 50 years later.
Luna (black) and Bernadette (gray) have sought comfort with each other while adjusting to shelter life. PAWS staff feel that they need each other once adopted.
