To the editor:
“What Maine needs for a Governor is a good benevolent dictator,” must have been the hope that put LePage into the king’s seat — someone who would dare to tell the politicians in Augusta to go to Hades, and who would “hate newspapers,” while single-handedly ushering in great economic prosperity by disregarding the sacrificial values of Christian democracy.

Bruce Poliquin and climate

Bruce Poliquin and climate

To the editor:
In June, Bruce Poliquin voted to block the Department of Defense from preparing for the global problem of climate change. This vote came despite the military’s multi-year initiative to “war game” the problem, and to develop a plan that not only saves taxpayers money but deals with what the military believes is an “accelerating threat to national security.”

The Constitution Party

To the editor:

I know that you have been told repeatedly, incessantly and continually that you can not vote for any but the two major party candidates because to do otherwise is “a wasted vote,” or that “it helps so-and-so get elected.” It is time for us all to reassess what those types of claims really do.

First of all, voting for “the lesser of two evils” is evil in and of itself, and perpetuates evil – pure and simple. Secondly, these lies are promoted by the powers that be to keep you stuck in their matrix where every four years you get to “elect” one or the other of their two controlled, hand-picked candidates and you get to feel like you’ve done your civic duty, or done something to “make a difference.”

Raising funds for flags

To the editor: I would like to thank the Hangar Pizza for doing an Ice Cream Day to raise money for the flags. It was a great time and the peanut butter shakes are out of this world. Go try one. Jeannie and Craig Moore Patten

Flags for Main Street

To the editor: I would like to thank Matthew Keim, a 9-year-old from Patten. He’s a Bear Scout from Pack 205 who raised $53.50 for the flags doing a Cub Scout project selling cookies. Thank you, Matthew. Thanks to all the people that donate. Keeping the flags flying in Patten, ME. Marty Arbo Patten

Poliquin and climate

To the editor:

In June, Bruce Poliquin voted to block the Department of Defense from preparing for the global problem of climate change. This vote came despite the military’s multi-year initiative to “war game” the problem, and to develop a plan that not only saves taxpayers money but deals with what the military believes is an “accelerating threat to national security.” Unlike Representative Poliquin, the U.S. military has warned about dangers from human-caused global warming since the Bush administration. As California’s devastating fires, exacerbated by six years of drought, and recent unprecedented flooding in Baton Rouge indicate, the impacts of climate change are clear.

Looking for ties to WWII working women

To the editor:

American Rosie the Riveter Association is trying to locate women who worked on the homefront during World War II. Thousands of women worked to support the war effort as riveters, welders, electricians, inspectors in plants, sewing clothing and parachutes for the military, ordnance workers, rolling bandages, clerical, farming, and many other jobs such as volunteer workers collecting scrap metals and other critical materials.

What else is Hillary hiding?

To the editor:

Why hasn’t Hillary Clinton held a real press conference since Dec. 4, 2015? Could the reason be connected to some of her health issues?

Setting the record straight

     To the editor:

This letter is in regard to the chip seal issue at Solar Slopes. As one of the two developers of Solar Slopes subdivision, I take issue with counselor Shane McDougall’s comment that, “the road was not originally built correctly, and that the substructure of the roads should be the main issue.”
