Monahan is the real deal

Monahan is the real deal

To the editor:
We need someone to look out for District 146 in Augusta. Rosemary Monahan is that person. She is a mature, reflective thinker, not a knee-jerk reactor, nor a blind party loyalist, but someone who will study the issues, involve constituents and vote in their best interests.

Last week I attended a public candidate forum, a fine civic event sponsored by the Presque Isle High School social studies department. The staff and students are to be commended.

Question 4 has too many unintended consequences

Question 4 has too many unintended consequences

To the editor:
In light of the fact that Question 4 on the Citizens Initiative to raise the minimum wage has been overshadowed by the passion many feel about Question 3 (the gun issue) I feel it necessary to explain our stance on Question 4.

Long upholds state, national Constitutions

To the editor:

As the November election date gets nearer would like to remind Senate District 2 voters that your Candidate Rick Long has served three very successful terms in the House of Representatives. His goal is to always represent his constituents in Augusta. He is running as a candidate for the Senate to extend that record of service to a larger portion of the State.

Carpenter supports the trades, more

To the editor:

As an instructor in Career and Technical Education (CTE), and president of the Association for Career and Technical Education – Maine (ACTE-ME), I am excited about a candidate for the State Senate who supports educational opportunities for students to study the trades that have built and maintained this state; Mike Carpenter, of Houlton.

Long offers respected voice in Senate

To the editor:

I am a former State Representative having spent eight years in the Maine State Legislature. Through four of these eight years Rep. Ricky Long was my seatmate and I got to know him very well. Of the 151 Representatives I can tell you that none were better respected than Rep. Ricky Long.

Rep. Long did not speak often on the floor of the House but when he did speak legislators listened well and took him seriously. No other Representative represented his constituents so faithfully and consistently. By his actions and words, one could easily tell that he knew the problems, the issues and concerns of the working person.

How I’m voting this time

To the editor:

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly (my yearbook quote from 1973!).

I dream of:

1. America great and free again

2. Originalist Judges to the Supreme Court of the United States and Lower Courts

Vote your conscience

To the editor:

For those of you who don’t see a presidential candidate that represents your values for America, one who is without hatred or anger or power hungry, then consider voting for the independent candidate Evan McMullin and his running mate Mindy Finn. They still remember what our Founding Fathers wanted for this country: pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, for state’s rights and a strong national defense.
