Addiction and crime committed to support it has become a war zone and epidemic in our country. It is killing our children and loved ones and robbing many of them of their minds. The enemy is well and very much alive on the planet Earth.
The fall and winter can be a busy time full of fun activities and travel, but the same activities that bring joy can also negatively impact patients in need of lifesaving transfusions.

On Sunday, Nov. 11, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.
The Presque Isle Utilities District, water division, is requesting permission from the Maine Public Utilities Commission to increase water rates starting on Feb. 1, 2019. If approved, rates will increase by an average of 11.55 percent for all metered customer classes.
When I worked the potato harvest on our family farm growing up, I can still remember falls when we finished ‘digging’ early and my dad would take his harvester and crew to another farm to help them finish their harvest.
