I voted

To the editor:
Yes, I voted on Nov. 8 at the Presque Isle Sargent Family Community Center.
It was a cold, windy fall day, but lots of people were turning out to vote.

In support of internet for all

To the editor:
Too many communities like mine still have pockets without any access to broadband infrastructure. Thankfully, we have an incredible opportunity to finally make sure every Mainer has access to broadband thanks to significant federal investments and the leadership of Governor [Janet] Mills, who has made universal access and digital equity in Maine a priority.

The big vac is a winner

To the editor:
I recognized the noise I heard coming down the next street.  It was the sound of the Presque Isle Public Works vacuuming up the large rows of leaves.

Demonologist story was not responsible journalism

To the editor:
I’m writing to protest the biased reporting of your November 2 article “A demonologist is coming to Aroostook to banish a curse.” It is irresponsible journalism to write about the notion of possession from a purely religious perspective, without mentioning the scientific consensus that there is no evidence that demons exist.

Miss Jordyn will give small businesses a voice

To the editor:
Our community depends on small businesses, but right now business owners in rural Maine are having a hard time with staffing due to the shortage of qualified workers. Jordyn Rossignol doesn’t just understand these challenges — she lives them. That is why she is running to represent us in the Maine House of Representatives.

Jackson has this diehard Republican’s support

To the editor:
Two years ago, my family ran into an issue with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection at our Long Lake lot. A couple of things did not add up, so I contacted a number of elected officials, including Troy Jackson, hoping someone could help sort this out.

Fienberg’s voice is needed

To the editor:
State Senate District 2 covers a large, rural portion of Aroostook and Penobscot counties. We’re facing unprecedented challenges: higher costs, scarce resources, overwhelming infrastructure needs, and a political machine that would just as soon have us all fighting each other, rather than working to help us to get things done.

Attention parents

To the editor:
During COVID, states with Democratic governors kept their states shut down for longer, saying they were following Centers for Disease Control guidelines. Other Republican-led states, like Florida and South Dakota, hardly shut down at all. Weknow now how harmful these shutdowns were to the children who couldn’t attend schools in person for well over a year.

Kevin for Maine

To the editor:
Kevin Freeman is the strongest candidate to represent Aroostook in the Maine House of Representatives, District 5. He is the one with the deepest understanding of important problems facing Aroostook County and Maine, and he has the experience and know-how to achieve best solutions.

Vote for the rational

To the editor:
As we approach the election on Nov. 8, we must take seriously Republicans’ expressed desire to end or drastically curtail Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, support for Ukraine, environmental regulation, worker rights and voter rights, to name just a few issues.
