Get the prescription facts straight

To the editor:
Let’s tell it like it is.
Being an insulin-dependent diabetic, I take four shots of insulin a day.  To date I am paying $70 a month for my insulin.  I have read and heard on TV that the maximum out-of-pocket cost for insulin for Medicare patients or those over 65 will only be $35 per month.

As an avid reader of the Houlton Pioneer Times, I thank Joe Cyr for his 13 years of informing me and others of doings around town. Local newspapers are vital for keeping citizens in their communities “in the know.”

In deep gratitude

To the editor:
Our son, James Thomas Cox, died at age 51 on Nov. 22, the third and last child to predecease my wife, Sandy, and me.  It is presumed he died of a heart attack while sleeping in his chair.

An eventful evening

To the editor:
Anyone who attended Caribou’s Hometown Heroes gala on Nov. 10 surely was in awe of the ladies and gentlemen who were honored for their accomplishments in their community. Each had a hands-on contribution to making our city a better and safer place to live, to work and to grow.

We may be very fortunate to have a smart up-and-coming young politician in our city of Presque Isle trying to get a better handle on our utility charges.  I hope it can be figured out that most of it comes from greed that probably cannot be controlled, as it is at the present time.

The Caribou Utilities District is preparing to enter the fiber business:  A 100 percent fiber optic network built to the last mile, from the outside in.  This means under-served citizens in rural areas will have access first.
