New hospital director — L. H. Alline, president of the Presque Isle General Hospital, announced today the appointment by the Board of Trustees, Fred J. Loase, as administrator of the hospital.

Whittaker promoted to captain — Former Lieut. C. W. Whittaker, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Whittaker of this city, married to the former Margaret Dickinson of Washburn, stationed in Manila with the 360th Station Hospital, was promoted to the rank of Captain.

Looking to set up shop — Frank Johnson of Caribou was a business caller who was in town a few days this past week, looking over the site for a barbershop, also calling on his brothers, Lewis and George Johnson.

Nice catch — Emmons Robinson recently made a nice catch of pickerel at Nickerson Lake and brought home 8 fine fish weighing 14 pounds.

New location — A. Levine and Sons are moving their stock of shoes, rubbers, etc., and also their repair shop from their store on Sweden Street, which they have occupied for several years, into the building on Washburn Street formerly occupied by the Hachy Bros., where they will be pleased to meet all their old customers and hopefully many new ones.

Generous response by local citizenry to Richard Michaud Fund drive — The generosity of the people of Presque Isle was demonstrated in their voluntary giving to the Richard Michaud Fund during the brief subscription of funds which was launched by a large gift from the Salvation Army.

Washburn boy returned from ETO — Staff Sgt. Herman F. Nevers, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Nevers of Washburn, formerly of Presque Isle, returned to his home after four years service in the Army.
100 Years Ago – Feb. 10, 1921
New store owners — Hines & Smith Co. have purchased the store on Sweden Street now occupied by A. Levine & Sons as a shoe store and repair shop. The new owners plan to move into their new location in the former shoe store soon.
