Caribou area From our Files – Week of September 6, 2021

100 Years Ago – Sept. 8, 1921
Legion concert — The concert given Monday night by the Caribou American Legion Band was fully up to the high standard which has been attained by this fine musical organization. An added feature of the evening was the excellent singing of William Chase, who did several encores. Everyone thought the Monday concert was great.

Brothers met after 10 years apart — After 10 years of separation, two brothers met during the weekend in Westfield. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, the boys’ last reunion was in Buffalo, New York, in 1936.

Garcelon Merchandise manager at Green’s — The management of H.B. Green & Sons announced that Mr. Frank Garcelon joined the firm as general merchandise manager for the men’s, boys’ and work clothes departments.

Bowling alleys on the way — William Golden has purchased two bowling alleys which have arrived and will be installed this week as soon as the workman arrives. They are also to install another bowling alley for the Elks Club.

Fort Fairfield’s new theater — Fort Fairfield will probably have in operation one of the biggest and finest theaters in Aroosk County. The new theater will have 550 seats.

Frank Hussey re-elected — At the director’s meeting immediately following the annual meeting, Frank W. Hussey was re-elected president. This re-election was tribute to the capable and aggressive leadership that had been provided by Mr. Hussey as President over a period of 10 years.

Easton woman head of Ray Goding Post Aux. — Mrs. Charles Adams of Easton, was installed as president of Ray Goding Unit, No. 88, Aug. 7, by Mrs. Yvonne Baker of Madawaska, vice president of the 7th district, following a banquet at the Northeastland Hotel.
