Fire destroys building and equipment — Three new Jeeps, a demonstrator and a large amount of farm and garage equipment were destroyed by a fire which caused damage estimated at $12,000 at the farm of W. Jerome Dickinson on the White Settlement Road here Tuesday morning.

New pumper arrived — The long-awaited pumper for the Presque Isle Fire Department, which arrived accompanied by Fire Chief Herbert H. Treffry and Carl Porter, representative of the Mack company, combined fire-fighting efficiency with one feature which made answering calls in cold weather much more comfortable and less hazardous for the firemen

Anderson boosted the 1948 potato goal — An increase of 5 percent over 1947 potato acreage was among Secretary of Agriculture Clinton Anderson’s 1948 farm production goals. Although the emphasis in 1948 goals was on grains, both bread grains and livestock feed, the broad program for the coming year called for continuation of high wartime levels of farm production.

New streetlights — Three new streetlights have been placed on Broadway during the past week, on the corner of Limestone street near the B. & A. crossing, and it is useless to add that they will be appreciated by residents of that section of the village.

Enrollment up in Junior Red Cross — “Enrollment in the American Junior Red Cross as of November 19 has greatly exceeded both in numbers of pupils enrolled and in contributions the 1946 record,” stated Mrs. R. Chauncey Robbins, Junior Red Cross Committee Chairman of the Southern Aroostook Chapter, American Red Cross.

Several changes being made — C. P. Hussey is making several changes in the interior of his store, putting in a large number of shelves which will be filled with Edison records. Mr. Hussey is recognized headquarters for Edison phonographs and supplies.
