The Island Falls Lakes Association will sponsor its 16th annual Canoe/Kayak Races to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, at Birch Point Campground on Pleasant Lake in Island Falls.

In 1846, the town that today is known as Monticello was incorporated into an official township. In 2021, the town will celebrate that founding.
