Our last two winters have featured tons of snow, as I outlined in my last column. The question is, will this one follow suit? Time to dig into the details in my 2020-2021 winter forecast.
It is cool today. I like fall weather. I love the smells, the crisp air, the colorful leaves. So, get outside, clean out the garden, pick up the yard, roll up the hose, shut off the outside faucet. Winter is coming whether we are ready or not.
All Mainers deserve the same access to health care regardless of where you live. However, those of us who live in rural Maine know that this isn’t always the reality, which is why the rural hospitals, health clinics and emergency services we do have are so important.
Last month, the president signed into law a truly historic bill that attracted broad, bipartisan support in Congress. If you find yourself asking, what in the world could bring elected officials from both parties together during a presidential election year when Republicans and Democrats are, as the evening news is happy to point out, far apart on about every issue, you’re not alone.
As many of you know, in the several parts of the country, francophones were not taught to read and write French in school. In fact, many of us were punished for speaking French.

I have been in Caribou for over 25 years and thanks to Councilors Kirkpatrick, Morrell and Goughan I believe this has been the best Council in all that time.
In the words of humorist Erma Bombeck, “The grass is always greener over the septic tank.” Having issues with your septic system is no laughing matter.
If you noticed that some trees, which may have started out with bright colors, suddenly dulled a bit, with some leaves even going rather quickly to a rust color, you have those cold September mornings to blame.
