Trolleys and the Gould connection

Presque Isle Historical Society is occasionally asked why we have a trolley.  Obviously, the first answer is that it is great fun.  The second part of the question is does Presque Isle really have any history of trolleys?  The answer to that is yes.

An icon for 114 years

For those of us who like to read or anyone who uses the many services provided today by the Mark & Emily Turner Library in Presque Isle, July is definitely a month to celebrate. The Presque Isle Library first opened its doors on July 1, 1908, with 2,000 books.

First Impressions of Dexter

When Wyatt and I returned home from the Houlton Humane Society, we excitedly told my husband, Matthew, and Wyatt’s two older siblings, Anna and Walker, all about Dexter. I showed them a video of Dexter that I had taken while Wyatt was petting him through the fence and shared what CJ had told us about him.

We need to celebrate teachers

It is one of the last spring flowers to bloom. Driving along a street in the Star City or its environs, these “blossoms” can be seen. Closer inspection reveals a message of accomplishment: a young person has passed a milestone and is moving on to a new adventure in learning to live in the future.
