Actions are making a difference

   It’s that time of the year again. It’s time to rake the lawn, cut back the hedges, and pick up branches that have broken off the trees in the yard over the winter. Now that all of that yard waste is gathered up, what should one do with it?

Truck weight limits

    My senior colleague, Sen. Olympia Snowe, and I have authored legislation that addresses a significant safety problem in our state: the federal weight-limit restriction that prevents heavy trucks from traveling on much of Interstate 95 in Maine and forces them instead onto smaller, two-lane secondary roads that pass through our cities, towns, and villages.

Some facts about biodiesel fuels

   Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made from oilseed crops, or used cooking oils and unwanted animal fats. Biodiesel proponents claim it can reduce tailpipe emissions, be used in most diesel equipment with little or no modifications, and reduces our dependence on foreign oil.
