Cup O’ Joe: What storm?

If there was ever a need to validate just how hearty County folks can be, this past weekend illustrated that point to a tee.
The first case in point came Friday evening, when despite the fact that it was a near blizzard outside, people flocked to Houlton High School to see the Harlem Superstars take on a squad of local “Dream Team” athletes made up of high school students.

Cup O’ Joe: The Cat’s Meow

Two weeks ago, I came home from covering a music event at Houlton High School and heard a strange meowing coming from outside. Thinking it was a neighborhood cat and not one of our two cats, I shrugged it off.

Cup O’ Joe: Harvest recess is hot topic for schools

Harvest recess. No two words stir up more imagery and emotion among residents of southern Aroostook County. Ask anyone you meet, and chances are you will get a wonderful story from their childhood on the subject.
