Photos bring family stories alive

Every family historian can tell you about the value of old family photographs. Photographs bring back moments I would have otherwise forgotten, and do the same for ancestors. I was fascinated with my great-grandmother Kittie Gallagher because of the beautiful self-portrait/photo passed down through the family. The best thing about that old photo is that as a child I was able to associate the name and the stories with a face so they stayed in my mind.

Cup O’ Joe: Spring projects have begun

After many, many long months, it appears that spring has finally sprung in southern Aroostook County. A sure sign that we have escaped winter’s icy grasp is the opening of the Houlton Farms Dairy Bar on Military Street. The Mill Pond Dairy Bar, with all of its delicious fried goodies, is slated to open this Thursday.

Doing right by our senior citizens

Our senior citizens helped build this great country and state. As your Congressman this is something I will never forget or take for granted. We should fulfill the promises we have made to our seniors and one of those promises is Medicare.
