The name Cary comes from one of Caribou’s most outstanding medical doctors, Dr. Jefferson Cary. Dr. Cary of Houlton came to Caribou in 1877 to aid Dr. Thomas, the only graduate physician here, who had been sadly overworked.
This year’s Young Professionals Institute, a partnership between the University of Maine at Presque Isle and MMG Insurance, will run on Wednesdays from Feb. 28 to April 24 on the UMPI campus; most sessions will take place from 4-6 p.m., but the finale event will be held from 4-7 p.m.
