Carleton Kilpatrick was named to the General Senate at U. of M. — P. Carleton Kilpatrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald M. Kilpatrick of Presque Isle and a member of the Men’s Senate at the University of Maine, was named as a representative to the General Senate.

Auxiliary Bishop Feeney in official visit — The Most Reverend Daniel J. Feeney, D.D., auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Maine and for 16 years parish priest at St. Mary’s Church in Presque Isle, celebrated a Pontifical Mass Sunday on the occasion of his first visit at St. Mary’s since his elevation to the Episcopacy Sept. 12.

New Mars Hill business firm — Lloyd S. Greenlaw and Dana Weaver of Presque Isle and Chas. A. Nutter of Mars Hill had formed a company known as Weaver, Greenlaw & Nutter Inc. in Mars Hill.

Mapleton man elected to office — In its first postwar meeting, Gamma Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity at the University of Maine elected Clifford Kierstead of Mapleton to the office of president. Cliff was active in all sports while attending Mapleton High School and was prominent in Future Farmers’ affairs.

W.R. Edgecomb appointed District Chairman USO — W.R. Edgecomb of the Aroostook Hi-Test Fertilizer Co. of Presque Isle was appointed district chairman for the Presque Isle District which included twenty-five communities in the surrounding areas, announced George W. Putnam, Aroostook County USO chairman.

Bessie Fulton elected Legion Auxiliary head — Mrs. Maurice White was hostess to the past presidents’ parley of the American Legion Auxiliary at a picnic supper at her home.

Ex-Marine captain re-enlisted as master sergeant — Astle Ryder, 32, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Ryder of Presque Isle, re-enlisted in the Marine Corps in Portland for a four-year hitch with the rating of master sergeant.

Special agent in Aroostook County — Wilfred Trafton, president of the Northern Aroostook Baseball League, was appointed special agent in Aroostook County for the Berkshire Life Insurance Co. He planned to set up his office in Presque Isle.

County’s income showed increase — Aroostook County farm families, in 1945, produced crops and livestocks with the record value of more than $50,993,000, as reported by the Bureau of Census, more than doubling their annual gross income in comparison with 1940.
