Soccer Shoot winners advance

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Winners from the “Soccer Shoot” penalty kicking contest, held by the Presque Isle Elks Lodge 1954 Sept. 25, 2016, will advance to the Northern District “Soccer Shoot” to be held at noon this Sunday, Oct. 9 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Young Owl volleyball team making strides

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — After securing a victory to open the regular season, the University of Maine at Presque Isle volleyball team had lost 12 consecutive non-conference matches before regrouping for a couple wins over the past two weeks. The Owls are now 3-15 heading into their match at UM-Fort Kent this afternoon.

PI native is new ‘Go Red’ ambassador

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A Presque Isle native has been chosen one of 11 national spokeswomen for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign.

The AHA recently announced this year’s “Real Women,” a group from across the country who will share their personal stories and encourage women to take a proactive role in their health by knowing their family history and their personal health numbers, including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI).
