With the Fair only a memory the last signs of summer are rapidly approaching. Macy’s, the department store hit on a singular idea long ago: Make a fuss and people will beat a path to the store. What is the City doing to drag eyes, britches, and the wallets in those britches into town?

Earlier this month the City Council requested comments from the public on their opinions of Pay As You Throw (PAYT), which has been in operation since March 2011. Contracts with the waste hauler who perform the PAYT collection will expire at the end of this year and the City Council would like to hear from citizens about their likes and dislikes of the program. This column will address some of the comments that have been made to the City Council.

Well here we are in August. I wonder where the summer went. The “Good Book” says that the end time won’t come until the days are shortened.
Aroostook County is well-known for its potato industry. In 2000, nearly 90 percent of all potato crops in Maine were grown in our county. Farmers have raised crops for generations, caring for the land and putting their heart and soul into their craft.

Pokemon Go has actually not only allowed my son with Aspergers to meet new people and begin to talk to new folks with similar interests, but he has begun to make new friends. Something he never did while in public school.
