Fort Fairfield Tigers take soccer tourney title

     Fort Fairfield’s Ryan Player converted a penalty kick for the only goal of the game as the Tigers squeaked by Presque Isle I team, 1-0, to win the annual 7v7 High School Summer Soccer Tourney held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Caribou High School.

     Aroostook watersport enthusiasts are a fortunate breed, especially the fishermen of the region. There are creeks, brooks, rivers, lakes, and ponds everywhere, regardless if you reside in an urban, rural or an off-the-grid, in the woods location. Likely there’s no more than a 15-minute drive to reach a productive trout stream, a landlock salmon lake or a waterway where togue abound. The common quandary for area anglers becomes, do you stay close and fish where pressure from other sportsmen is heavy, or do you drive to more remote waters boasting more fish and fewer fishermen?

Session of late-summer swimming classes offered

     Beginning July 25 and through Aug. 5, 2016 the Presque Isle Recreation Center will be taking pre-paid registrations for the Aug. 8-Sept. 17 session. Lessons will be held at Gentile Hall at the University of Maine Presque Isle and there are openings in the following classes:
