Cole acquires Great Works drilling firm

     BANGOR — S.W. Cole Explorations, LLC (S.W.COLEx) has acquired the equipment and materials of Great Works Test Boring Inc. In the deal, the drilling company obtained three drill rigs and associated equipment, bringing the number of rigs owned by S.W.COLEx to five.

1966: Large strides made on Caribou bypass

115 Years Ago — Aug. 14, 1901

     Building collapses — The old York building on Main Street, near the bridge across the Caribou Stream, collapsed Thursday afternoon of last week. The building has been vacant for some time and as it has long been an eyesore to Caribou people, general rejoicing because of its downfall is expressed.

Tornado warning!

     On Monday, July 18th, just as I was beginning my vacation outside of The County, inside The County, Mother Nature put on an amazing display, as a truly textbook supercell thunderstorm developed and subsequently produced a tornado. Maine averages about two tornados a year. Before I get into what I want to tell you about, here is the text summary from the National Weather Service damage survey team:
