The king of freshwater fish

If you were to put me on the spot and make me choose just one freshwater species to fly fish for during all my remaining days, it would be the Atlantic salmon. I’d not even hesitate with an answer, I’ve been fortunate to fish all over the world and have caught over 50 different species of finned quarry and the silver King tops my list. Vicious strikes, long, fast, line stripping runs and high acrobatic leaps make each and every lengthy tug-of-war memorable. If, and that’s a big if, you can finally entice one of these moody, reticent chrome missiles of muscle to take a fly, it’s often a life-changing experience.
