Cambridge joins CFCU team

Carla Cambridge     PRESQUE ISLE — Officials with The County Federal Credit Union announced on Sept. 8 that Carla Cambridge has joined The County Federal Credit Union’s lending and management team in Presque Isle. Cambridge has been hired as the assistant branch manager and loan officer.

Cochran Day a success

    Caribou Heritage Day was a huge success. I hope many of you got to see the fireworks and attend an event or two during the day. There certainly were a lot of them! The weather was spectacular. We gave Austin Bleess credit for the weather.

XC teams third in Old Town

OLD TOWN, Maine — For the first time this fall, the Caribou boys’ cross country team finished lower than first place in a meet.
At the 65th Old Town Sectional Invitational Saturday, the Vikings settled for third place out of 10 teams. Mount Desert Island was the meet champion by posting 52 points and Orono was second with 61. Caribou followed with 64, 52 points fewer than the fourth-place squad — the host Coyotes.

MDI ends Viking girls’ win streak

Opal Curless scored two unassisted goals, the second breaking a 1-1 tie 13 minutes into the second half, to lead Mount Desert Island to a 2-1 road victory Saturday over the Caribou Vikings.
The loss put an end to Caribou’s five-game winning streak. The Trojans improved to 4-2, while the Vikes fell to 5-3.
Curless had opened the scoring with 11:55 to play in the first half, but Sarah Doak knotted the score by tallying off a Maddie Doucette assist just 1:14 before intermission.

Three with local ties to be inducted into Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honors

The honor of being inducted into the Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honors is presented to men and women for their extraordinary commitment and work behind the scenes to help students both academically and athletically.
Representing the Northern Division and being inducted at the annual banquet Oct. 12, 2014 in Waterville are three men with ties to the community — retired Caribou educator and coach Jim Carter, retired Woodland Elementary School principal Philip Caverhill and Caribou High School alum Larry Murphy.
