Marketing and online tourism tools workshop is Oct. 15

CARIBOU — Business owners, especially those in the tourism industry, who want to bolster their marketing expertise are encouraged to attend a free training session devoted to online marketing tools and tourism resources.     The training is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at Northern Maine Development Commission in Caribou.

    CARIBOU — The following cases were heard at the Aroostook County Superior Court during the month of July.    Emily E. Adams, 28, Caribou: theft by receiving stolen property (two counts), $250 fine (first), dismissed (second).    Paul D. Bartlett, 48, Caribou: operating ATV under the influence over 21, $400 fine, 48 hours in jail.

Lifelong Caribou citizen weighs in on secession

To the editor:
Wow! The secession movement was a great topic in the Sept. 17, 2014 Viewpoints section. Let me be very clear on this, I’m a lifetime Caribou citizen and I agree wholeheartedly with the secession committee even though I am not in that part of the city, and yes to those who say if you don’t like it here and want to move help is available to help you pack and go. I say to them don’t show your ignorance with your poor choice of words, after all the citizen who made that statement is not a lifelong citizen of Caribou and will be gone long before I have providing I don’t die first.

Connecting workers with available jobs

    Few issues are as important to people here in Maine as the availability of good jobs in our communities. Unemployment in our state, and across the country, remains too high. We must continue working together to identify ways to improve job training initiatives to help people find jobs in fields where jobs exist.

New playground is truly a great community effort

We are writing to follow up on an article published about three weeks ago regarding the recently constructed playground at the New Sweden School.  Some important information was not captured and the School’s Playground Project Committee wants to be sure that everyone who contributed so much time, effort and energy to this cause is recognized.

    The leaves are starting to turn colors, the air is getting a little bit cooler, and pumpkin spice coffee creamer is back. It can all mean only one thing: Budget season is back.
As we get started with the budget process I wanted to take a moment to discuss the 2014 budget, and also make sure that you, the citizens of Caribou, are aware of the opportunities you have to be a part of the budgeting season.
