1899: Teague offers 30 rods square to create park

115 Years Ago-Nov. 16, 1899

• Teague Park: About five years ago, J.D. Teague anticipated growth that Caribou is destined to see, laid out a street intersecting with Main street on the west and connecting on the east with that which runs parallel with the Aroostook River. This opened up a number of desirable house lots. He then gave to the town a lot of land thirty rods square for a public park.

MSSM essayist takes on plastic pollution

As a student, Sam Heino is used to writing research papers for class. However, it’s not every day that one of her essays is entered into an international contest and wins an honorable mention. That’s exactly what happened to Heino as she entered herself in the 2014 Ocean Awareness Student Contest, organized by the national environmental nonprofit From the Bow’s Seat.
