MSSM students tour Maine labs

LIMESTONE, Maine — Over September break, seven students from Deb McGann’s computational physics class got the unique opportunity to visit both the Jackson Laboratory (JAX) and the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory (MDIBL) in Mount Desert Island. The Maine School of Science and Mathametics students stayed on the Jackson Laboratory campus while attending the three-day short course.

Manufacturer connects with NMCC undergrads

   PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The ultimate reward for any college student is to make a connection with a company and find a quality job in their industry of choice. One such company, GE Power & Water, which operates a computer numerical control manufacturing facility in Bangor, offered an internship this past summer to three NMCC students in the precision machining program.

UMPI biz class presents findings

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Several students in the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Business Program had their first experience giving a presentation before a group of professional CPAs, attorneys, insurance brokers and financial advisors when they participated in the Aroostook County Tax Seminar held Oct. 31, 2014 on campus.

CHS National Honor Society celebrates new members

CARIBOU, Maine — The National Honor Society Faculty Council of the Caribou chapter recently announced the election of 16 new members to the Caribou High School NHS.
Inducted were, from the Class of 2015, Ricky Perry, Kaitlyn Ring and Kyle Tibbetts; and from the Class of 2016, Molly Adams, Chelsea Chapman, Sarah Draper, Maria Espinosa, Benjamin Ezzy, Kate Finnemore, Michael Hunter, Ethan Plourde, Donovan Savage, Madison Staples, Megan Theriault, Irene Thibodeau and Elijah Verhoff.

    The Pregnancy Care Center held its 12th annual fund-raising banquet Oct. 23 at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center. The theme for this year’s banquet was “Speak Life.”
