Divorces

CARIBOU, Maine — The following divorces were granted in 1st District Court during the months of April-November 2014 by Judge David Soucy and Family Law Magistrate Rob N. Langner on grounds of irreconcilable differences.
Augustine Caron and David Caron, both of Woodland, married August 1, 2009, in Caribou.
Natacha Sergent, Madawaska and Vernon Baker, Woodland, married August 18, 2012, in Woodland.

Was it a win or a loss?

    As this is being written, it’s been nearly a month since Maine voters went to the polls and gave us a result that both pleased and disappointed everyone. Deservedly disappointed were the pollsters who got it so wrong. Others who earned their disappointment were the pundits and politicians who took the vote of entire groups for granted and were so arrogant they didn’t even try to mask their contempt for the voters and taxpayers. There were gains and losses, and it’s our choice whether we wallow in disappointment at what was lost or cheer what was won.

Know your snow!

Recently, after posting to my professional Facebook page that light snow was occurring over a portion of The County, a couple of people replied, “Light Snow?! It’s really been coming down here!” Then I asked them how much they had had. “Oh, about a half inch”, they said.
