This time of year, with the holidays fast approaching and everyone gearing up for Christmas and the New Year, it is when families join together to celebrate the festive season. Holidaybird count Sunday

Local birders are hoping to see more than just one “partridge in a pear tree” this holiday season as they head out to tally birds in two upcoming Audubon Christmas Bird Counts. Aroostook Birders bird watching club will host the local counts — the first in the Caribou/Limestone area on Sunday, Dec. 14, and the other on Saturday, Jan. 3, in Presque Isle.

Other Voices: Where do we go from here?

    Our great nation cannot continue to be a beacon to the world by abandoning the established principles on which it was built. Our current path leads to a morass of confusion and ultimately of collapse. I propose to you that we need to seriously examine our situation and then develop straightforward ways to change our course.
