Grand jury
The Aroostook County grand jury completed its first session of 2015 and handed up 39 indictments against 35 individuals without any “no bills”. Those indicted by grand jurors include: Peter Beaupre, 48, Portage Lake, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, fraudulently obtaining or possessing hunting license, violation of conditions of release.
Judd and Scott takes firsts in swim meet
LIMESTONE, Maine — Foxcroft Academy joined local swim teams Caribou and Presque Isle at Saturday’s meet at the Limestone Community School pool.
The Caribou boys were beaten by the Ponies but defeated the Wildcats, while the Viking girls lost to both opponents, but by just a single point to PI.
Caribou teams dominate Nordic race
After cold weather forced numerous postponements involving high school skiing over the past two weeks, the season finally resumed with a Nordic meet Friday at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle and an alpine meet Saturday at Bigrock Ski Area in Mars Hill.
4 wrestlers medal in tourney
DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — The Caribou Vikings’ wrestling team competed at the Foxcroft Academy Wrestling Tournament Saturday and came away with a gold medal, courtesy of Dustin DeMerchant in the 195 lb. division.

Hunting and fishing licenses available
Maine 2015 hunting and fishing licenses now are available for purchase online or at any of the more than 800 licensing agents statewide.
Buying a license is an easy and effective way to support Maine’s fish and wildlife management efforts. All proceeds from the sale of hunting and fishing licenses stay at the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Fort Fairfield fire chief earns advanced EMA certification
Chief Mike Jalbert of the Fort Fairfield Fire Department was recognized by Aroostook County Emergency Management Jan. 8 for accomplishing his state certification as a basic emergency manager.
For achieving his goal, Director Jalbert receives certification from Maine Emergency Management, along with a jacket from that agency.

Troopers bust up teen drinking party in Stockholm
