Look for hard-nosed negotiations on governor’s budget

    By now, you’ve probably read bits and pieces about the governor’s proposed new budget which includes an expansion of the sales tax, a decrease in the income tax and a few million tons of asphalt for our pothole-plagued roads.

Unfortunately, flaws in the Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare,” are discouraging employers from hiring and are resulting in part-time workers having their hours reduced and thus their paychecks cut.

AARP offers local tax help sites

    The AARP Tax-Aide Service will have sites in Presque Isle and Caribou this year.    In Caribou, the site is located at the VFW building. Hours will be from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 4-April 14.

Desjardins joins Stantec

Cory Desjardins     CARIBOU — Cory Desjardins of Wallagrass has joined the Aviation group of design firm Stantec as a computer-aided design (CAD) technician based out of the Caribou office. In addition to his CAD experience, Desjardins has also worked as a surveyor and carpenter.
