UMPI sports update

     The field has been announced for the men’s and women’s soccer conference tournament that the University of Maine at Presque Isle will host at Scarborough High School Saturday and Sunday. Three women’s teams and four men’s teams will compete in the American Collegiate Athletic Association tourney.

The decoy debate

     Find yourself among a group of waterfowl hunters and the conversation usually revolves around favored shotguns, the best shells and loads, preferred portable blinds and even camo patterns for clothes and gear. Chatting quickly turns to debate and sometimes even into bickering when the subject of decoys arises. The two most outstanding points of conflict regularly involve the best style of decoy and the most dependable set-up configuration.

Groups team up to expand Farm for ME

     AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine — Power of Prevention (POP), a program of Cary Medical Center, has partnered with Catholic Charities to help expand the farming and growing capacity of Catholic Charities’ Farm for ME.

     The local program provides fresh produce year-round to food pantries in all of Aroostook County by harvesting, gleaning and accepting donated food that is either distributed at that time or sent to a Van Buren microprocessor, Northern Girl, for wintertime distribution.
