Follow our Constitution

To the editor:
“These are the times that try men’s souls.” Those words were written by Thomas Paine on Dec. 23, 1776 when Gen. Washington’s Continental Army was on the verge of collapsing. Miraculously, Washington’s soldiers rose to the challenge, crossing the Delaware River during a raging snowstorm and defeating Hessian soldiers in a battle that forever changed the course of history.

Setting the record straight

To the editor:
Caribou has recently been celebrating the “Good News” that Sitel is moving from the Loring Commerce Centre (LCC) to the town of Caribou and creating 330 jobs in downtown Caribou. Well it is not “Good News” for the LCC as rent revenue will be lost and it is not good for the town of Limestone whose tax rate will increase by about a half mil. Not good news at all!

North Lakes Fire and Rescue earns fourth safety award

North Lakes Fire and Rescue has received its fourth award for workplace safety from the Maine Bureau of Labor.
According to Chief Darren R. Woods, this award reflects the efforts of the firefighters within the department and the commitment of the County of Aroostook to ensure that they promote and improve conditions for the safety and health of employees.
