Joshua Archer     CARIBOU — A Washburn man has been hired as a staff reporter at the Aroostook Republican & News. Although he had been writing freelance articles for the past month, Joshua Archer’s first official day on the job was Feb. 13.

    BANGOR, Maine — Washburn High School senior guard Mackenzie Worcester didn’t expect to reach the 2,000-point plateau for her career because she thought she entered Saturday’s State Class D championship game against Rangeley needing “40 or 50 points.”
But her father, Larry, informed her Saturday morning that she was just 36 away.

Fort Fairfield boys outlasted by Forest Hills in ‘D’ state game

BANGOR, Maine — Forest Hills High School hadn’t had a legitimately tight game all season.
Their average halftime lead was 27 points and the closest contest was a 14-point win over Hyde in the Western Maine final. That meant the starters seldom played anywhere near 32 minutes.
