Secession proponents take Lyndon plan to commissioners

    CARIBOU, Maine — Representatives of the Caribou Secession Committee shook hands with County Commissioners at their March 18 meeting in Caribou.
According to Secession Committee spokesperson Paul Camping, the committee wants to lay the groundwork with County Commissioners for any future partnerships that may arise.

Teacher, business team up to purchase iPads for pupils

    CARIBOU, Maine — Eighth-grader Kaylee Trombley is the proud owner of a new iPad thanks to her teachers in the Caribou Life Skills Program at the Caribou Middle School.
Trombley has autism, which means social situations can be tricky, but according to special education teacher, Penny Jackson, Trombley is more at ease when she can play on her new iPad.

Woodland citizens OK every article

WOODLAND, Maine — The Woodland selectpeople met with townspeople on March 17 for a town meeting at the Woodland school.
Residents of Woodland voted on a series of articles outlined in the 2015 annual report for the town of Woodland. Harold Tardy was the moderator and 29 registered voters were there along with a few non-residents.

Gold at Green’s —An advertisement for the March 19 opening of the new Green’s Clothing Store in Caribou read: “On Saturday, we will have our formal opening, and commencing at 1:30 p.m. sharp, we will give away $2.50 in gold with every purchase of $10 or over, on that day only. With every purchase of a boy’s suit, we will make the boy a present of a brand new dollar bill.”

Hannaford donates 1,564 cases of food to Good Shepherd Food Bank

    Hannaford Supermarkets recently donated $19,000 in food to Good Shepherd Food Bank, as part of a hunger-relief campaign that produced more than $1 million in product and cash donations across five Northeast states, including $240,000 in Maine.
