City OKs rail trail bridge

   CARIBOU, Maine —  The mobile bridge connecting the south side of Caribou to the north side along the Lagasse Connector trail for off-road vehicles will be replaced with a permanent structure later this year.

Grand jury indicts 22 during May session

    The Aroostook County grand jury completed its fourth session of 2015 on May 8 and handed down 23 indictments against 22 individuals without any “no bills.”    Those indicted include:    Reece Humphrey, 21, Presque Isle: theft by deception.    Robert J. Fieler, 35, Presque Isle: theft.

County jails in limbo

By Joshua ArcherStaff Writer     CARIBOU — The topic of jail reform came up at last Wednesday’s County Commissioner’s meeting at the Caribou Courthouse. State lawmakers are considering the abolishment of the Board of Corrections. If the board is dissolved, control of county jails would go back to the counties.

City Council sets secession hearing

    CARIBOU, Maine —  Caribou Secession Committee spokesperson Paul Camping told council members during public comment Monday that his committee is eager to have their public hearing at any time and at any place. He also let the council know that the committee’s Impact on Property Taxes Report for taxpayers in secession territory and Caribou (which according to Camping is required by law for the public hearing) is ready to go.
