Caribou High School celebrates Academic Night

Caribou High School’s Annual Academic Awards Night was held on Thursday, May 28. This annual event is organized by the Caribou Chapter of the National Honor Society and is funded by the Caribou School Department.

    CARIBOU — The following cases were heard at the Aroostook County Superior Court during the month of February.    Todd T. Smith, 44, Washburn: OUI (two counts), dismissed (first), $800 fine and 150-day license suspension (second);  and operating vehicle without license, dismissed.

Police officers raise awareness for Special Olympics

For about ten years now, the Caribou Police Department along with other local police departments, the Maine Warden Service, local U.S. Border Patrol agents, local U.S. Customs officers and Maine State Police have participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run. This is a worldwide event, and will take place in Caribou on Thursday, June 4.

Bird enthusiasts hunt with binoculars

    CARIBOU, Maine — May marked the third series of “May is Healthy You Month Caribou” where bird enthusiasts grab their binoculars and join in the hunt for some of northern Maine’s feathered friends.
The birding outings, sponsored by Cary Medical Center, Aroostook Birders and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department, brought folks willing to wake up early and search deep into the night for a peek various birds that live in Aroostook County.

Viewpoint: Union 122 board not listening

To the editor:
Ten years ago I made a choice to move my family from Caribou into Woodland. I wanted my children to have the opportunity to grow up in a small community that would provide them a solid foundation in learning, community involvement, and moral values.
