New event planner earns degree, president’s award

    CARIBOU — Lydia Kieffer, Caribou’s new marketing and event coordinator, recently graduated from Paul Smiths College in Paul Smiths, N.Y., and was recognized for achieving a perfect grade point average.    The college’s president, Cathy Dove, awarded Kieffer the prestigious 2015 President’s Award, as the senior with the highest cumulative grade point average of 4.0.

My ongoing battle with the city

To the editor:
In 2012, a new Real Estate and Personal Property Tax valuation was (implemented) in Caribou. When I received my personal property tax bill in July of 2012, it had gone up almost four times higher than the year before.

Union 122 decision a difficult one

To the editor:
It is common for the public to point fingers and want to place blame on our elected officials when they make difficult, controversial decisions, and the recent decision by the school board of School Union 122 to send our high school-age kids to Washburn District High School rather than Caribou High School is one of those decisions.
