Aroostook State Park in Presque Isle was sunny, warm and filled with excited children and their families for the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing’s Aroostook Family Fun Day last month. The MECDHH’s Public School Outreach Program put on the day of activities that include face-painting, games and a picnic lunch.
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The sun was out and the wind was absent May 16 when 39 paddlers and several runners and cyclists competed in the ninth annual Aroostook River Fun Run canoe/kayak race from Washburn to the PI Fish and Game Club.
Dan Baumert of Levant turned in the fastest time of the day, paddling his solo kayak to the finish line in just over an hour (60 minutes, 29 seconds). The flat-water course is approximately eight miles long. He also won the highly-sought doorprize — a GoPro digital camera.
