Reunions

Plans are well underway for our family reunion in July. We designated a small committee to organize things and send out invitations. I was surprised that all but six went out electronically, either thru Facebook or email. Things have certainly changed since the last big one. We also set up a free family reunion website through Weebly.com and I have started filling Shutterfly.com with family photos from the last 140 years.

Hospital District should operate ambulance service

To the editor:
The Caribou Secession Committee, regret that our statements at the June 11, 2015 public hearing about the Caribou Ambulance Department were not adequate enough, nor contain enough details for the general public to understand what we wanted them to know. A perspective about the city’s operation of the ambulance department is needed to accomplish this.

Closure threatened at Caribou Free Pet Food Pantry

To the editor:
Halfway Home Pet Rescue in Caribou has operated the Marie Joyce Allen Free Pet Food Pantry for the past six years. Unfortunately, this program for families in temporary financial crisis is currently unable to meet more than 60 percent of presented needs.

Consumers can expect electric rate decrease

    BANGOR — Emera Maine customers will see adjustments in their transmission rates, which went into effect July 1.     For a typical residential customer in the Maine Public Service district, these rate adjustments will amount to a total bill decrease of approximately 93 cents per month, Emera officials said.
